The undersigned beg leave respectfully to recommend J. C. Benton Esq. of Decatur as a suitable and proper person for the appointment of Quarter Master in the Regiment of the Seventh (7) Congressional District

We believe Mr. Benton to be entirely competent & trustworthy, possessing the necessary qualifications of experience, energy & perseverance to fit him for the important post for which he is recommended.
