Galesburg Ill Dec 22nd 1863.

Hon Richd Yates

Governor

Please dont do anything toward having the present PM at Abingdon removed. He is faithful & true, a popular man and one of the most liberal & true Union republicans in the County. I understand that one S Y Ritchie a K G C Copperhead of the Valandigham school has written to you upon the subject.

Please do not heed anything he says. I know Mr Chesney the present P.M. to be all right & Sound. If you have been led to make a reccommendation of anybody else I hope that you will withdraw it at once

Very respectfully & truly Yrs Clark E Carr
