Permit me to introduce to your favorable acquaintance my friend the bearer hereof, James T Slack of this place. Mr S desires the position of Engineer on a Gen Boat. I know him to be a first Class Engineer & Machinist, understanding perfectly the construction & operating of Engines. He is a staunch friend of the party & has rendered effectual service thereto on the stump, in this County, & is one among your many political admirers.
