Gov. Yates

Dr Sir

I take the liberty of addressing you a line in regard to the prospect of me remaining in my position in the Service, provided our little affairs are not Settled by the time our term of Service has expired.

I do not intend to go home until it is settled, and if I cannot remain where I am, I presume there will be room in the ranks.

My object in applying thus early is to get some information on the Subject, so I can shape my arrangements accordingly

Yours Truly

F. L. Rhoads

Lieut. Colonel

8th Ills Volunteers

To the Hon.

Richard Yates

Gov. Ills

Col F. L. Rhoads

For appointment as Lt. Colonel
