Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letter of 22nd May and would gladly do what you request if the Medical Department of the Army could act upon my recommendation. The transfer from your regiment has been made under orders of the War Dept with which I have nothing to do. The orders provide that soldiers who become incapacitated for duty in the field shall be transferred to the Invalid or Veteran Res. Corps and held until their term of service expires or until in sufficient health to be returned to their regiments. I judge from what you write that the Surgeon would not be justified in ordering you back to your [regt?]. I have written him to discharge you if possible or consistent.
Very truly
Richd Yates
Governor.
