Mr. Yates.
Dear Governor,
Please allow me the privilege of interrupting you a moment for the purpose of making som inquiry about Colonel Lippincott. of the 33d Ill Inft. I understand he is home on recruiting service, if he is, will you please inform me of his whereabouts. if you know. Why I am inquiring about him is this I served as volunteer in his Regt over two years until I lost my arm last summer at Vycksburg when I was discharged.
Gov I have a desire to serve Uncle Sam again. & when I was wounded my Col told me to write to him whenever I wanted any assistance & should like to obtain a situation as [illegible] musters Clerk or some other position where I can be of some service to my country, please by return mail. I am
