Hon Richard Yates

Dear Sir

Our Friend William Cannon, will be obliged to us if he can be aided to a post as Sutler in a Colored Regiment He is a sterling man, for 26 years his voice and influence have been untiringly devoted to the cause that will triumph by the Fall of the [illegible] foes of our Country.

You will oblige me by aiding him
