Col. Loomis

Dear Sir

Allow me to introduce to you, my brother-in-law Mr Hardin, who visits Springfield for the purpose of getting his Excellency Gov Yates to endorse a petition for the release of his son from the Military prison at Alton, of whom I was speaking to you when I saw you last week on your way to Quincy. Will you afford him every facility in your power to effect his sons release. Advise him as to whom the petition should be sent. I see by the papers that Alton has been transferred back to Gen Rosencrans Department, and it may be that it will have to go to him, but of this you can advise him. Your attention to this matter is earnestly requested

Yours truly

A A Glenn
