To His Excellency

R. Yates
I have a friend John. S. Holliday a Citizen of this County who has a Son George Wm Holliday a prisoner at Alton Ill, taken in Miss, a Capt of the 12th Rebel Cav of that State: He has written his Father that he will comply with any thing necessary for his release.
His Father has a son in our Army, a Loyal man himself- And having confidence in the promises of George Wm desires him to return to the home of his youth - This Son resided in Miss at the breaking out of he Rebellion.
Tell me can I have released short of exchange If so how. He claims to wish to return & Support this his Native Country.
