To His Excellency

Richard Yates Governor &c

Sir

We desire respectfully to renew to you our Petition heretofore presented, and again earnestly request that Your Excellency may find it consistent with Your duty to Commission Col W W. McChesney as Colonel of a Regt. of which we may form a part.

A considerable time has elapsed since we called your attention to this subject, and we take occasion to say that although time has given us a better opportunity to become acquainted with him, it still gives us pleasure to bear witness to his worth as a man and a Soldier.

As we learn that it is the intention of Your Excellency soon to consolidate the Regiments, now forming, we earnestly hope that we may be permitted to enter the field, in the Service of our Country with him as our Commander.
