H. B. Buck Ast. Surg. U.S. Vols.

Superintendant of Hospitals

Springfield Ills.

Dear Sir: This will be presented by Mrs Elizabeth Harnett of Jacksonville Ills. who has applied to me for my aid in securing the discharge of her son John C Purtle of Co "H" 125th. Ill Vols. who is now in hospital at Camp Butler.

She informs me that he is afflicted with disease of the heart, and lung -- that he is in no condition wharever for military duty, and is not at all likely

to be again as he has been in hospital for nine months.

I would respectfully and earnestly request that you have this man examined immediately for discharge, and will feel obliged if a discharge is granted

I think it a case which deserves early

and especial attention.

Please have him discharged if possible and report action taken to me.

Very Respectfully

Your Obt Sevt.
