Sir:

His Excellency Governor Yates desires me to inform You that he has examined the papers relative to the pardon of John Murphy lately transmitted by You. In order to entitle the petition to favorable consideration it should be accompanied by a statement of the officiating Judge and prosecuting attorney or either of them and part of the Jury, giving the circumstances, time of conviction and term of imprisonment and recommending the Pardon. Also a certificate from the Warden of the


Warden of the Penitentiary certifying to the Convicts good behavior while in prison.

A compliance with the foregoing requirements will receive a speedy Consideration of the application.
