Dear Sir

Inclosed I send you a letter of introduction sent to by the Hon T. J. Henderson.

At this time that I intended to visit your City important business called me to Iowa and I returned from there to this place only last evening. As it is rumored here that there is to be another call for volunteers I hasten to report myself to you.

I graduated at the Norwich University of Vermont in 1852 at which time I was considered well posted in military discillin by the faculty. Since that time I have been employed by railroad companies as an engineer most of the time. I have payed no attention to military tactics, and of course I am pretty rusty, but I hope I am like a good weapon, haveing lost none of my temper by a little rust.

I should like to be with a corps of engineers as I am better prepared for that than for any other department, but I am ready to go where I can be of the most service. My adress until the first of Aug. will be Yates City Knox Co. Ill. after which a letter sent to this place--Galesburg Knox Co Ill.--will be forwared to me wherever my business

may call me
