A State Agent for the protection of, and to look after the interests of the Illinois troops in this Department is very much needed. Such an agency is inquired for every day.

New York, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa & Wisconsin all have such an Agent in this city and I urge that you appoint one for the State of Illinois. I will be productive of great benefit to the service and save me an immense deal of labor and trouble -
