St Louis June 16th
Dear Governor.
I reqretted very much that you could not be with us at the opening of the Fair. There was a great crowd here although not as great as I had anticipated. The Fair as I presume you know was a great success pecuniarily. When are you coming to the City again?
I sent Your Portrait back again some days
ago and suppose you have received it "right side up with care."
When the Picture arrived here the glass was broken, but nothing else was injured.
Give my kind regards to Your "staff," & believe me as ever
