DrSir I have been the Quartermaster of the 11th Regiment Ills Vol. thus far.

And Col. Wallace suggests to me to apply for an appointment of Brigade Q.M. and has written a very urgent application for the same and sent a very flattering letter of recommendation up for me.

From your acquaintance and knowledge of me. Could you give me a letter to the President and Secretary of War. if so it will be accepted as a favor &c.

I could get any number of names as you are probably aware but think it unnecessary.
