If agreeable I would be glad to receive at your hands an appointment of Lieut. Col. or Major of some of the Ills Regiments. I am desirous of entering the service, but cannot go without a position that would support my family.

Your expressions of regard and desire to assist me heretofore is the only excuse I can make for this application.

And if you can assist me, your kindness will ever be held in grateful remembrance. Please let me hear from you if not too busily engaged
