Springfield, Ills.

Governor:

I have the honor to acknowledge the rect. of your communication of the 8th inst. requesting that, if consistent with the interests of the public service, the detail of Sergt. Beckett V.R.C. for duty at the Soldiers Home in this city, be extended.

In reply I have the honor to inform you that Sergt. Beckett has this day been ordered to report to Col. Woods in this city, for duty at the Soldier's Home until the 31st day of Oct./64 or until the public interest requires his services elsewhere.
