Camp Butler Illinois August the 19th, 1864 Govner Yates Dear Sir in the Paper of yesterday I see a Proclamation for one ridgment to be raised in this State and as I have servedone term of three years and am hear to be musterd out of the servis I hear ask of your Permission to rais a company to go in to one of them ridgments in which I am shure I can git the amount of men in a few days if I can git Permission to go to my home and with out dalay if I am granted this Permission I will start A mediatley and in a few days will report the men.
