Dear Sir

I set down to see if you can't have the soldiers that have seved 3 years discharged with out helping them 2 months over there time it will be 3 years since my husband left home the 2 day of Sep he was sworn in by the offecer at Camp Duglas as he belonged to the 9 duglas brigade on the 6 7 or 8 as he wrote me a letter on the 9 and said about 60 men had been sworn in he neve has had a furlow he as tried a good meney times he neve has missed but one march and neve bin in the hospital and i don't want


eney body to disert but when a man goes for 3 years then they ought to let them out and not keep them 2 months over their time

the officer over them wants to keep all till the last day of Oct so they cant get home to vote as now they are before atlanta

he is a fifer in Comp A 55 Regt Ills vol he played for the band when you made a speech at Vermont and havana he herd your speech in the Lincon campain and Liverpool is with out a fifer now and they want him back to run old abe again and if could vote i would want to vote 100 votes to get him in again i hope you will answer this and let me know if you think it is fair to keep a man 2 months over his time i don't think no man ought to be keep over one [day?]


i have a family of 3 children and he hant been paid since in Jan and provisions so high and clothing i hant had a dol for some months and am in debt over 25 dol and cant get a dol and hant 5 lbs of flour in my house and no one ever gives one 25 cents worth with out pay i think it seems hard to keep a man from his familey 3 years and then to try to keep him 2 months more on they


say that the muster rool was lost at Shilo they all know when they was sworn in for they was paid 2 months pay on Nov the 12 3 years ago

Dear Gov I want you if you pleas to order him discharged on the day of Sept it was before the 9 and let him come home before we starve or i will have to have some money soon pleas to answer my letter Gove and let me know what you can do
