Gov Yates

Dear Sir

You will probably be solicited for Arms for a Company of Home Guards now forming in this place. In hope you will be cautious in giving arms out to this Company.

The Union Home Guards have recd the arms from Col Pugh's Regiment which are down here. This Co forming is an opposition Company & thier loyalty is not as good as it might be. I write this at

tThe request of Col F. Remann with whom you are better acquainted.

You need not use any of our names as we don't wish to become involved any more than we are. Things are more quiet now in our County but cant tell how long it will last

Very Respectfully

Yours

J N McCord
