Dear Gov

Capt Henry Sturges, formerly Editor of the Lincoln Herald and now of the 61st U S Inftry, is in the City, and will call on you to-day. Allow me to ask your interest in his behalf. He has been in the war since its Commencement; is a firm friend of yours, and a brave and loyal soldier. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to hear of his being advanced, as your Excellency might deem just, and I am sure the act would be gratefully appreciated by him, as well as your friend
