Dear Sir
I understand that you have issued some order for a Regt. of men for general duty at Alton or elsewhere Officers to be commissioned by you If there is any chance for a commission I would like a place for P.A. Brown the present Sheff of Lake Co He would make an excellent officer and if you can do anything for him I wish you would. I will give you satisfactory evidence of his fitness.
