To the Hon. Richard Yates

I have been informed your Excellency was the proper person to make the application I am about to make. If I have been misinformed I hope you will excuse me, will you please inform me whether I am to be allowed damages for the loss of a valuable stable that was ordered by Military authority to be taken down. According to the order it was done some two weeks ago, I can assure you, Sir it is a great inconvenience especially at this season of the year, for that was my main dependence for the shelter of my wood and domestic animals. I cannot but think Your Excellency will agree that I should be remunerated. In the 1st place it was upon my own land the stable was built, when the Arsenal was built against it. Taking things in consideration

I cannot think it reasonable that I should be the looser of a dollar. I reside one door south of the Arsenal am a aged widow lady and would be very much obliged if you will answer this by the barrer.

Yours with very much respect.
