Gov. Yates

             Dr Sir
                       Rev. John L. Guard of Trivali Township, in this county, desires to go to Winchester, Va., to bring away his mother, now residing eight miles south of that point.  Mr. Guard is an earnestly worthy, loyal man, was President for a long while of the U. L. A. of Trivali  He desires a note from you stating his business, and endorsing him as a loyal man.  If you can comply with his request you will confer a favor
