Please allow me the liberty to say, that having been Compelled to resign my position as Colonel of the 10th Ills Cavy on account of ill health and now having recovered my health and desire to reenter the service, I would respectfully request a letter of recommendation to President Lincoln for the position of assistant Quarter Master, or some other position in the Army, in which you may deem me worthy and Competent to discharge the duties.

I have recommendations from Hon.S. M. Cullum and others of this City, for the position.
