Governor:

                 Your Excellency's letter of Dec. 7, '64 to the Surgeon in charge of U.S. Gen. Hospital Madison, Ind. relative to the transfer of Illinois soldiers to their own State having been referred to this office  I have the honor to say, that I have already directed the transfer of such as desired to go to Quincy & Springfield.  One hundred asKed to be transferred to Chicago, but as the Hospitals in that vicinity are full, I have been unable to comply with their request.  I could at present transfer these men to Quincy, if that would suit their (illegible).  I will enquire into this & will endeavor to accommodate them if practicable.
