Dear Sir,

           I learn that my old friend Isaac L. Morrison Esqr of Jacksonville Illinois, is or will be an applicant to the President for the appointment of District atty for the U.S. of the Southern District of Illinois _
            Mr Morrison Started out in his Professional Career from my office in Oldham County _. and It gives me great pleasure to Say of him, that during an intimate acquaintance of more than twenty years, I have always highly appreciated him as a man, and his professional Success in Illinois: has been a Source of much gratification to me _ He and all his family So far as,

personally known to me, are and have always been zealous Union men,

     I have no doubt that if he should receive the opportunity, the duties of the office will be discharged in such manner as will do honor to him and give general Satisfaction.
     I write you instead of the President, because you Know me and he does not & hoping that you will do me the favor to make such representations to the President as will induce him to favorably entertain Mr. Morrisons application _
