Governor.
Dear Sir, Before leaving Cairo I had received no reply to my application for the acceptance of a new Regiment. Should I succeed in raising a Regiment will it be accepted, and if the choice of the Regiment will I be appointed Colonel.
I am satisfied that some assurance of this kind will greatly facilitate enlistments. Please address me to day at Chenery House, or after to day at Mound City
