Ills.

Dear Sir.

Capt. Samuel McCreery of this place is now engaged in raising with I think a very fair prospect of speedy sucess, a company of Sappers & Miners. He will in all probability have his company full within the next ten days. This branch of the service is one of which I know but little, but suppose the public service may require more. I trust if they can be received you will make some effort in their behalf and secure their reception into the Service.

Any thing you may do will be highly appreciated by him, his men and myself.

I am, sir Yours &c

P.H. Walker

P.S.

What number and kinds of mechanics are required, for such a company. If accepted please give the information so that Capt McCreery can conform to the requirement
