             Honorable Richard Yates

Ma it please your Excelency to comply With My Request I Wish you to give me a position as assistant Clerk in some of your Departments in Springfield as I am a Discharged Soldier and not able to Work for a Subsistance I Went out in the 98th Rege of Ills vol of Inft I helped get up that Regement I Wald Like to have a position that Wald pay as Well as posible as I have a family that is dependent on me for Support I do not draw any pention from the fact that I thought I Woud get able to Work and I Don't Want to do so if I can Make a living With out it fo I think this government is imposed on in the pentions Business now to much I think there is men Drawing pentions that is able to Work as any Body I Will take any position that is honarebel and Will pay me fifty dollars per month
