To His Excellency
Hon Rich Yates
Gov. Ills. Springfield
It is the desire of the Union Citizens of this County to hold a Mass Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8th at Havana and wish you to address them on that occasion. Mason being one of the doubtful Counties, we earnestly hope you can make it certain to be with us on that occasion Knowing that your presence will draw the citizens of this and the adjacent counties together in such numbers as will give the Union Cause an impetus which
will add great strength to our effort to redeem Mason County from the domination of Copperheads -
We shall look anxiously for a reply from Your Excellency and earnestly pray that it will be in our favor. In behalf of Mason Co. Central Committee
I am Your Obedient Servant
