Sir

I have the honor to enquire whether you desire the presence of a military company at Decatur, during the State Fair. Also to request that the new regiment, now in process of organization at Camp Butler, may be turned over to me, by companies, as fast as organized, provided this course will not conflict with any of the provisions of your arrangement with the War Dept.

If you are prevented by existing orders from so doing please join with me in an application by telegraph to the War Dept for authority.

The term of service of the 133d Ills expired yesterday that of 48 Iowa will soon expire. Therefore I must have this new regt as soon as possible.
