to the honorable Richard Yates Govenor of the State of Ills.

Dear Sir

I have the honor to inquire of you as to whether, we as a few members of Baty. S. 1st. Ills. Lt. Arty. who inlisted in said Baty. 6 month after the organization with the understanding to be discharrett when the Comp. would Feb 65. but now I hear that we should serve the full 3 years, I have a familie to support in Dixon Ills.


and furthermore if we should have to serve the 3 years, would we get discharged from date of inlistment or from date of muster in, you would oblige me very much by leting me know the particulars.
