Sir:
In accordance with a request from Lt Col A. Fuller Rodgers of the 80th Regt Ill Vols. I have relieved him from the Command of the 144th Regt Ill Vols, & granted him a leave of absence for fifteen days to settle up his business before returning to his Regt in the field.
Believing that the intent of the Service would be promoted, & as a personal favor to myself I request, that you will have Col Rodgers Regiment filled up with volunteers or drafted men that he be allowed to take them back with him when he rejoins his Regiment, as a reward for faithful service
