Hon Richard Yates

Dear Sir please. find enclosed a letter my son to his sister Stating his health & condition where he is he inlisted in the army and the first of last April & Imediately Joined the Regiment in Georgea under Gen Sherman he was in the Batter on the 22 of July in which Gen McGerson was killed under Gen Dodge in the 16th army corps after which he was attacked with the rheumatism & has been in the hospital all the time since he & his Doctor States his case better than I can I you can help him to be Removed North you will confer a Grant of [illegible] on his Father Mother & two young Sisters his adress is Theodor S. Couch Co A 12th Reg Ill [illegible] Inft 2 Brigade 2 Division 16th Army Corps
