Western Marine & Fire Insurance Co.

Chicago, Oct 7th 1864

Dear Governor

The failure, or rather I hope, temporary suspension of the W.M & F Ins. Co. renders desirable on my part to sell some of my real estate, and I write you to ask if you to ask if you still desire to purchase some ground in the vicinity of Hyde park, and offer you one half or the whole of mine containing about five acres, with which I believe you are acquainted. I am asking $12,000 for the whole or $6,000 for one half. Please let me hear from you at the earliest convenience. Respectfully yours

J. H. Woodworth

Mrs. W returned from the East Saturday and sends kindest regards to Mrs. Yates & [illegible] & family.
