Dear Sir,
The 136th, Regt, Illinois One hundred day men whose term of service has expired and now at Camp Butler, are detained there without any appearant Cause.
Your excellency knows the importance of these men at the Polls at the ensuing Election, The Election between the contending parties is going to be vary close hear, a vary few votes may turn the result either way. And especially the election of Col, Ferrell who is our Union Candidate for the Legislature and the Union people hear greatly desire his election, our County (Hardin) which has been heretofore almost entire Copperhead, will give a small Union majority, if we can get all our Voters to the Polls -- Capt. Mitchells Company is from this County, Cant you get these men sent home before the Election? For Gods sake don't fail to do it. It is to your interest to see to it, Col. Ferrell will vote for you for United Sates Senator, if he is Elected,
