Indianapolis, Ind. Jan 16th/65 His Excellency Governor Yates of Ill. Sir, I beg leave to ask a favor of you. As I am transferred to the Vetern Reserve Corps against my will, I inlisted in the 36 Illinois Infantry in August 1861 & I reinlisted in the same Reg in January the 1st 1864. I had a light attack of chills & fever & was sent to the Hospital & before I had any opportunity to be sent to my Reg I was Transferred to Co. G 17th Reg V. R.C. I was able for field duty when I was transferred to this Corps & I have not been sick one day since I was transferred to this Corps. I inlisted to do duty in front & I want you to use your influence if you please to have me sent back to my Reg in front. Yours truly, Augustus Ritz P.S. Please Reply & give me information.
