Georgetown DC March 4 1865 dear sir as the compiler of the "Dictionary of Congress" which has been adopted as a public document, I desire to obtain from you, at your earliest convenience for the new edition, the following particulars/viz:-the date and place of your birth, the character of your education, your profession or occupation, and a list of the public offices you may have filled.
