Belleville Ill March 6, 1865 Dear Gov Can you not get me the office of Collector of this District? The present incumbent, Frederick H. Pixer [?] was appointed by Trumbull-has never been in the service, is a rich merchant with no merit in particular save devotion to Lyman [?] Trumball- I would like to meet to be tested with Lincoln whether I am entitled to anything-Trumbull says No and is determined to make his veto good and effectual if possible Yours truly N.
