Danville May 5th 1865 Hon Richard Yates Dear Sir Your note of the 2nd just. enclosing note from the [illegible] notifying me of my discharge has just come to hand. such are my misfortunes I feared such would be the case had I not made all necessary arrangements in view of taking & entering upon the duties of the position I would not care so much about it. but it cant be helped and I presume the continuance would have ben short at most. verry respectfully your friend & olt sevt J Peters
