Chicago Mechanical Bakery, on Clinton Street, between Lake and Randolph, Manufacture All Kinds of Crackers, and Pilot Bread

Chicago July 27. 1865

Hon. B. C. Cook

Dear Sir

I have been earnestly pressed by the friendly Lient M.F. Smith of our county to ask you whether there will [illegible] to secure for him [illegible] mail agent or [illegible] clerk on one of the Rail Roads that pass through our county.

He is a young man who has served our country through the war, pleasant address, fine clerical abilities, and many friends who will be glad to aid him if there is opportunity.

Very truly,

H.C. Childs
