First National Bank, of Shawneetown, Ill.

Shawneetown, Aug 18th 1865,

Hon. Richd. Yates,

Dear Governor,

Yr.s of 14th" is rec'd, & we hasten to comply with your request, and herewith send you a list of a portion of the Union men of our County. it would require too much trouble to send to evry one; We can muster between 600 & 700 Union votes now.

We will always take pleasure in distributing any documents that you may send to us, to parties not included in list sent, and when we think it will do, direct & send some to tender footed Copperheads; always put your frank on envelope, and most of them will take it as a compliment, to receive from a U.S.S. and Illinois patriotic and noble Governor, during the four year's of fiery trial through which we have just poped.

Hoping that you may enjoy health and much happiness. We remain as ever Your Friends Truly
