I have in my possession the first Special order issued by Lt. Gen. Grant as Sr General + thinking likely that some one of your friends mite [sic] like to make themselves the owner of the sauce(.) I thought I would drop you theas lines and say that the order can be bought as I am not able to keep precious relied. I will say in conclusion that I donte [sic] h[illegible] or ask you to take any trouble but mearly (hope?) that if you deam it worth your (notice?) you will speak of it when it may come (conversation?)nothing more [underlined].
