Description
An angled view of the front of the Old State Capitol in Springfield shows a ribbed dome and striped window canopies next to the building's main entrance. Construction of the building began in 1837 after a caucus of Illinois lawmakers, including Abraham Lincoln, successfully petitioned to have the capital moved to a more centralized location.
