Danville Ill. Octr. 3d 1861.

Gov. R. Yeats,

My Dear Sir,

Permit me to ask a favor of you, and to tresspass upon your time a moment. There are a few soldiers here belonging to Company K. 37th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers, commanded by Col. Julius White. The Regiment is now at Boonville Missouri, the soldiers are anxious to go forward and join the Regiment. No passes have been provided for them. The object in writing you is to know if your Excellency would think proper to make provision for their passage. If so, any instructions you may be pleased to give in the carrying out of the object mentioned, and in which I can be instrumental will be cheerfully and thankfully received

Most Respectfully

Your Obt. Srvt.

W Fithian
