Sir,

Pardon me for troubling your Excellancy with this communication but I feel that duty calls & I must obey. I was formaly a non-commission officer on the Staff of Col. A. G. Brackett 9th Regt. Ills. Cavaly, was discharged in Oct. last for disibility, I now have entirely recovered my health and can not remain longer out of my country's Service, I ask your Excellancy for a Position in the Ills. Vol. Service, will accept of any position in which I can best serve my country. If you require referances I would refur you to the following named Gentlemen, Col. A. G. Brackett, Lieut. Col. H. F. Sickles Maj. Henry Burgh, Capt. E. R. Knight of the 9 Regt Ills Vol. Cavaly.
