Havana, Ills: June 15 - 1863.

To his Excellency

Richard Yates.

Springfield

Dr. Sir, There are gigantic efforts being made to send a very large delegation of the most radical - disloyal - reckless democracy to their state convention this week. Fulton county proposes to send one thousand men. They say they will have their revolvers along, and a few shot guns, under the straw, in their wagons. In these times I suppose we all should be vigilant and watchful, and for that reason I write to let you know what kind of matireal the convention will be composed of, so far as this vicinity is concerned. They will be prepared to indorse any thing their leaders dare propose. - I hope, Governor, that something will be done, at once, to counteract the evils of this convention.

Loyalty should be lowd spoken, now.

I am most respy yours James H. Hale.
