My Dear Govr

I write merely to say that I want (if E C Larned is removed at the end of this term) to be appointed U S Attorney for the Northern District of Ills, and I ask you to withhold your influence in any other direction in this matter until I see you, which I will do in a few days. I understand several persons are willing to sacrifice their personal interests to the extend of accepting said office

I have the Honor to remain

Your Obt svt

In case E. C. Larned, is removed at the end of his term, he wants the appt. of District Atty for Northern Dist. of Illinois, and that you withold your influence in favor of anyone else until he sees you.

Understands some are willing to sacrifice their personal interest to the extent of getting that position.
